Session Questions and Responses
Q: Can you speak about office design and HVAC systems and how COVID has impacted this? Does this mean no more open office spaces?
A: Our HVAC costs over the last two months have been down 60% during the pandemic. There has been a large cost saving as well as sustainable benefits. Because of the total square footage, it allowed organizations to have more collaboration space. The open office looks like it is here to stay.
Q: For artificial light, is there a specific light temperature (in Kelvin) that is recommended for energizing the user?
A: We have a lighting guide that provides the recommended answer. View the lighting guide here.
Q: Does Haworth have program planning tools integrated into furniture solutions for early planning? Does it have BIM integrated families?
A: We do have digital tools available for the majority of our products. We start by creating the AutoCAD symbols for everything. We also supply CET Designer/Canvas symbols for our dealers. We provide Revit families as well. We do have a lot of content on our website and have also partnered with BIMsmith, to make downloading content even easier to search. View Haworth products here.
Q: Do you find you are marketing products more now to home offices than traditional commercial offices?
A: No, we are actually still doing the majority to traditional offices. Our online store continues to grow in popularity for our independent dealers. The home office will continue to grow, but we are really continuing to focus our business on the office as a whole
Q: Could you revisit the data regarding sit-to-stand workstations and share the benefits?
A: Yeah, that data comes from the University of Michigan. As we look at a study that was done on monitor use in sit-to-stand issues. The study was done in early 2019, and they found when people use a height-adjustable table, there was a difference between people that have prompts to stand up versus people that don't. They found people increased their overall movement by .6 hours per day.
Q: Are you seeing customers supporting employees in working from home?
A: Yeah, based on the census data, it shows that 55% of knowledge workers are currently working from home. It may change when people change their working from home schedules. It looks like a trend for the millenial generation, to work predominately from home.
Q: How often are customers you work with pursuing formal certification for well-being credentials (WELL, FitWel, Living Building Challenge)?
A: WELL is the most popular that we are seeing right now. People start following the recommendation and methodology, but don't necessarily pursue the certification.
